Lynn Public Schools Meal Distribution plan changes beginning April 5th

In Person Students

  • In Person students will receive a breakfast in the morning and a grab and go lunch at dismissal each day
  • Multiple day meal boxes will end on April 9, 2021 with a five day meal box

CDC eviction moratorium
extended through June 30th

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky has signed an extension to the eviction moratorium further preventing the eviction of tenants who are unable to make rental payments. The moratorium that was scheduled to expire on March 31, 2021 is now extended through June 30, 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented a historic threat to the nation’s public health. Keeping people in their homes and out of crowded or congregate settings — like homeless shelters — by preventing evictions is a key step in helping to stop the spread of COVID-19.

COVID-19 testing in Lynn this week

The City of Lynn was selected to be a part of the state’s “Stop the Spread” Initiative back in July of 2020. COVID-19 testing sites have been set up and are available for residents of Lynn to visit. Information about these testing sites are below.

PROJECT BEACON
Located at 398 Blossom St. in Lynn

The City of Lynn has been selected as one of four communities across the Commonwealth for a COVID-19 express testing site. The site will be run by Project Beacon which specializes in high-volume appointment only testing. The Lynn Project Beacon site has been extended through at least June 30th.

Weekly COVID-19 numbers from Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health

Every week the MA Dept. of Public Health releases numbers for how COVID-19 has impacted the state, and we try to highlight some of these numbers so the community is informed about how COVID is impacting Lynn & the state. Their numbers factor in the past week as well as the week before, giving 2 weeks worth of data.

Two weeks ago the City of Lynn officially entered the yellow COVID-19 risk category for the first time, but this week Lynn has returned to the red category. This is bad news for Lynn, which has been hit hard throughout the pandemic. Just last month Lynn passed 15,000 total cases but we currently stand at 16,275. Lynn currently has 354 active cases, up from 306 last week. New 24-hour cases have not risen above 81 & 25 people have died since the start of February, both statistics tredning in a positive direction for the city.

Mayor McGee & Lynn Dept. of Public Health Announce Upcoming COVID Vaccine Clinics for Lynn Educators & Essential Workers

Mayor Thomas McGee and the City of Lynn Department of Public Health are pleased to announce additional upcoming Lynn Educator and Essential Worker Vaccination Clinics. The next clinic will be held on Friday, March 26th at the Breed Middle School Gym, 90 O’Callaghan Way. Moderna first dose vaccines will be administered at this Friday’s clinic. Both educators and essential workers can register for an appointment for the March 26th clinic at https://www.maimmunizations.org//reg/6150200972.

Baker-Polito Administration Announces Vaccine Timeline for All Residents, Provides Weekly Dose Updates & $27.4 Million in Federal Funding for Vaccine Equity Initiative

Today, the Baker-Polito Administration announced the timeline for all remaining residents to be eligible for a vaccine. The Administration also announced the weekly distribution of vaccine doses statewide for providers and a new $24.7 million investment in the Administration’s Vaccine Equity Initiative.
