PARKING DURING A SNOW EMERGENCY

No vehicles may park on a public street or sidewalk during a declared Snow Emergency.

Residents can move their vehicles to designated city parking lots once the snow parking ban is announced. Vehicles must be removed promptly from these lots at the end of a snow emergency or they will be towed.

VEHICLES PARKED ON STREETS DURING A SNOW EMERGENCY

Vehicles parked on streets and sidewalks are subject to ticketing and towing. An announcement will be made when the parking ban is lifted. If your car is towed it will be $169 tow fee plus a $150 ticket. There is a $35 storage fee per day that your car is held at the tow lot. It is strongly advised that you find off-street parking during a snow emergency. The tow lot is located at 40 Federal Street behind the Fire Department Headquarters at 725 Western Avenue.

Hearing requests for violations must be requested within 21 days online at the City’s Citation Portal or in writing to Robert Cronin, Administrative Hearing Officer.

CAR REMOVAL POLICY

Vehicles still in designated snow lots after that time will be subject to ticketing and towing.

• If parking ban is lifted BEFORE 9 PM:  Residents have two hours to remove cars from lots.
• If parking ban is lifted AFTER 9 PM: Residents will have until 6 AM the next day to remove cars from lots.

BLUE SNOW EMERGENCY LIGHT LOCATIONS

Blue snow emergency lights will flash during declared snow emergency events at the following locations:

• O’Callaghan Way at Walnut Street
• Western Avenue at Centre Street
• Eastern Avenue at Essex Street
• Essex Street at Joyce Street
• Broad Street at Union Street
• Western Ave at Waitt Road
• Wyoma Square

Fire Hydrant Shoveling

The Fire Department does their best to locate and remove snow from around fire hydrants. Assistance from residents is greatly appreciated. The City of Lynn is asking residents to keep safety in mind when clearing snow from around their homes.

The City of Lynn would like to remind homeowners to remove snow from exterior vents connected to heating appliances. Carbon monoxide, a poisonous gas, is known as a silent killer because it is colorless, odorless, and tasteless.  Residents are reminded that when clearing snow on their properties they should also check for possible snow build-up around exterior exhaust vents attached to fuel-burning appliances and heating systems such as fireplaces and furnaces. Blockages in these vents can cause carbon monoxide to accumulate inside a home.
