The following is a list of candidate forums for the candidates for the Lynn School Committee that we have been made aware of. If you are organizing or know of an upcoming forum please email David Riley Jr. by clicking here. We will make every attempt to film and air these forums. Any forums we have filmed have been embedded in a playlist below.

Candidates were given a deadline of July 10 to schedule their Candidate Profile video, if there is no video that means that they either missed the deadline or declined to film.

Ward 2 was the only race where there were any eliminations from the Final Election, all candidates below have advanced to November.

All candidates we have listed below will advance from the Preliminary Election to the Final Election. In alphabetical order:


Cherish Casey is a noble contender for Lynn School Committee. Her background with cultural competence, teaching, Social work, and community advocacy shows deep commitment to the Lynn community.

Cherish stands for a fair and equal education for all children in Lynn, that meets the needs of individual families. She believes education is a home, school, and community duty. This is why Cherish strongly stands for the need of Community-Based Schools. Schools that are truly for the betterment of the whole family, and give parents a voice in their children’s education.

Donna Coppola currently serves on the Lynn School Committee. She is married to Harry, mother of 4 Lynn Classical graduates and has 5 granddaughters. She is a graduate of North’s Shore Community College and UMASS Boston.

Donna is employed by JOI Child Care Center as a case manager to teen parents. Union Steward for UAW1596, delegate to North Shore Labor Council, Board member of LCCC and former board member of My Brother’s Table.



John Ford is seeking re-rlection to the Lynn School Committee, on which he has served since 2002. He has been married for 50 years to Sheila and they have 4 daughters. John has strong ties to Lynn education, with several members of his family teaching in the Lynn school system in the past and present. The Ford School is also dedicated to the memory of his uncle, Robert.

John worked for 34 years at GE, worked for State Rep. Steven Walsh, & is currently working with State Rep. Brendan Crighton as his Legislative Aide. John is very involved in the community as a member & board member of several community organizations that work with children and families, and volunteers for many events for the youth of Lynn. John is in daily contact with school administration on any topic that may arise, prides himself on same day response to any school related issue, & attends as many school functions as he can

Lorraine Gately is proud to say that she was born and raised in Lynn, MA and attended Lynn Public Schools. For 33 years she taught Science in the public schools, and also experienced LPS as a parent. An excellent school system is her goal, and while on the present School Committee. she has strived to represent the students, parents, teachers, administrators and all staff in Lynn Public Schools

Lorraine has treasured being your strong voice on the school committee, & will continue to represent the students, listen to and support parents, teachers, and all staff. She respectfully asks for your continued support & one of your six votes for Lynn School Committee.

Elizabeth is a graduate of Lynn Public Schools, Salem State University, and holds a graduate certificate in Gender, Leadership and Public Policy from UMASS Boston . She is the proud mother of two children who will be attending Lynn English High School & Harrington Elementary. She has been a passionate advocate for her four-year-old within the Special Education Department.

Elizabeth works for U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren as an Immigration Specialist. She previously worked at Lynn Pathways, the North Shore Justice Center, and in Congressman John Tierney’s district office as an Immigration caseworker. She currently serves on the Board of the Lynn Hispanic Scholarship Fund and served on the Board of Lynn Community Health Center for two years.



Natasha Megie-Maddrey has lived in Lynn Massachusetts for the last 19 years. She has been married to her husband Tarik for 15 years, and they have 5 wonderful kids. She graduated from South Boston High School, then went on to attain her Bachelor’s degree from Regis College. She graduated from New England School of Law in 2002.

Natasha is currently practicing Immigration and Family law. As a parent, she has a vested interest in education. Natasha wants to ensure that not only her kids have an excellent education, but that all kids in Lynn have an excellent education.

Jessica has lived in Lynn for almost 3 years, and has a 5 year old who will be attending public school in the fall. She believes that the state of the public schools in Lynn can make or break our city, and is invested in our schools so that our children can become successful members of our community. It all starts with education, and our kids deserve the best education we are able to provide. Its time to put the future of our children first.

Jessica truly believea that we need to get the students involved in the community. They need to take ownership of their neighborhoods, and their city. They will have larger goals to work toward, and will help build the future of Lynn. All of these students have the potential to be future leaders, we need to work hard to develop each student to their highest potential.


Jared was elected to the Lynn School Committee in 2015 and he is excited to be running for reelection. He is an attorney who represents new businesses in the Boston area and is a graduate of public schools, Princeton and Harvard Law.

Jared and his wife Katherine plan to raise our family in Lynn and we want to send our future kids to great public schools. In his first term, Jared helped to found a wrestling program in Lynn at the middle and high school level. He is passionate about public education and bilingual in English and Spanish.



Michael Anthony Satterwhite is a long time Lynn resident and is running for Lynn School Committee. He is married to Andrea and they are expecting their second child November 8, 2017. Michael is an attorney and volunteers for a variety of organizations and his wife is a nurse practitioner.

The Satterwhite family received the majority of their education through Lynn public schools and Michael wants to help better the Lynn public schools.
